Alumni ATEHM is research base academic association. So our decision based on research and data. There are many new tourism trends are coming in introduce those new aspects and raise awareness of the new concepts to the Sri Lanka tourism is our major responsibility and we are aligned with global agenda as an academic association in Sri Lanka.

Sustainable tourism concept in terms of tourism means the improved quality of life of the general public, satisfaction of visitors, the conservative use of natural beauties, historical wealth, social and cultural, preserve biodiversity, values which are the basic capital of tourism. Sustainable tourism development is also a subset of sustainable development goals according to the global agenda. Sustainability principles in tourism refer to the environmental, economic and socio‐cultural aspects of tourism development, and a suitable balance must be established between these three dimensions to guarantee its long‐term sustainability.

Sustainable tourism development requires the establishment of education and training programs to improve public understanding and enhance business, vocational and professional skills especially Practitioners of the tourism industry. Such development involves promoting appropriate uses and activities that reduce poverty and draw from and reinforce landscape character, sense of place, community identity and site opportunities. Sustainable tourism development also has to provide for intergenerational equity with equitable distribution of the costs and benefits of tourism development occurring among both present and future generations.
