Who we are
With the intention of upgrading the tourism industry through an academic partnership, the Alumni
ATHEM of University of Colombo is formed in 2015 under the guidance of Prof. D.A.C Silva, the Course
Coordinator of Tourism Study Programmes at the UOC and the panel of lecturers in the tourism
programmes,
thus benefitting the students, the university and tourism industry as well. The uniqueness in the
Association members was, each and every member is not just a past student of the tourism programmes
conducted at the university but also the cream of travel & tourism industry in the country.
Since its inception the Alumni ATHEM has played a vital role as the academic body of Sri Lanka Tourism, supporting the industry through research and development and knowledge. The Tourism Leader’s Summit (you can provide the link here) which is being held since 2015 aligning with the World Tourism Day (September 27) is a paramounting event in the annual calendar of the Alumni ATEHM.
Further, the Alumni ATEHM plays a significant role beyond being an Alumni. The membership body being industry experts unite together to conduct many valuable workshops , sessions and programmes for the industry stake holders, under the superior guidance of the course lecture panel.
While being at service to the tourism and hospitality industry of the country, to strengthen the Faculty of Arts , serving the interests of the University of Colombo.
